As far as the novel goes- I've hit a decent stride again. i needed to take a few days to regroup my thoughts on what I wanted and where I was leading. I also needed to take some time to really understand where Emma was coming from. Why in my head she was making these decisions but they were against my originally conceived notions of who she was. I feel I've taken the proper route and cross examined her and have come to some rather interesting conclusion. I'll give you a little bit of that now:
The actual title of the book will be 'The Deathcharmer' (more on that later)
--If you talked to me on AIM, MSN, or in person you know I ideas was for her to be around 7 or 8 years old. She is now 10 years old. I've noticed she thinks and talks in a manner that really wasn't in a way single digit kids really talked (at least the ones around where I live). I also wasn't fully satisfied with how the character had no real abilities. I mean, yeah, she was smart and stuff but overall there really wasn't anything very special about her- nothing that set her apart from any other man woman or child in the story. So the girl is now what I am calling a Deathcharmer. think SnakeCharmer but with corpses.
--I've gone back and reworked my original outlines. The basic plot points I set out in the begining are all still intact, i've just added a bit more events in chapter 1 and chapters two and three have basically been doubled. The previews I gave you last week of Chapter 2 have either been scrapped entirely or rw-written to accomadate this awesome character (a character so awesome that he doesn't even have a name yet!) I made. Basically I realized chapter 2 wasn't going anywhere because nothing was really giving the character much focus tog et through anything- so me, the writer, had no real purpose to get through it. By adding basically adding a Lord of Death wandering through that cemetery it gave the chapter some much needed electicity to jump start it.
-- As a few of you know I have plans on at least one direct sequel featuring Emma. Now I've figured the plot far enough down the line to bring out two sequels. the titles of the two books with her and one other Delain book feauring a different lead character.
Book 1: The Deathcharmer
book 2: The Color of Mist
Book 3: The Darkness of Denil
Book 4: The Mark of Redvine
--the whole first novel is outlined. the first 3 chapters of the second are also outlined. The third book has been more or less outlined for the last 3 years (long story)
-- I've written the first two chapters of Deathcharmer as well as the last two chapters. in a short thing- i actually kinda got choked up writing the last couple scenes. never did that with any of my own work before.
--can you tell I'm psyched about this?

Take your peanuts and your popcorn too, but leave me my sanity, my soul, and my heart that I may live to entertain another....
I'm not trying to give a sex change to the boy from the sixth sense- Emma will, for all intents and purposes, be a normal average little girl as this starts. She won't be some weird wallflower who pays her freinds to be her friends.

or Like my werewolves that will appear in the end- I'm drawing them from alot of east asian tales and some old german stuff as well as American Indian tales about 'wolf' tribes. It won't be the 'full moon' shit like we're used to seeing. There won't be any roles for the 'Underworld' crew and Jacob Black isn't going to have any kind of cameo.
actually I'm pretty jazzed about the werewolf scene i've got plotted. It's really the only time I've actually written about werewolves despite them being my favorite monster as a kid.
